Médi-Sélect, now a company of Medline Canada

We are excited to share the news that Medline Industries, Inc., the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies in the United States, and operating in over 90 countries world-wide, has acquired Médi-Sélect, effective January 15, 2020. Médi-Sélect will become a division of Medline Canada, and will continue to serve Canadian healthcare providers in the same way it does today.

Business will continue as usual. All ordering, shipping, accounts payable and other operational and administrative transactions will continue to operate as they have in the past; please continue to work with your existing Médi-Sélect team. You should experience no change in your interactions with Médi-Sélect and feel confident in knowing the company is now owned by Medline, solidifying long-term financial and operational stability.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss specifics about how this affects your organization, please contact your sales representative directly.

Here is some history and background on Medline:

  • Medline is a fourth-generation family-owned healthcare company dating back to the early 1900s. As we’ve grown, we have maintained our flexibility to customize for each customer while bringing to bear the resources of a big business. We operate with agility and scale.
  • We are the largest privately-held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies in the United States, and one of the largest global healthcare distributers. We offer over 500,000 medical products and clinical solutions to healthcare facilities around the world, helping drive operating performance and better clinical and financial outcomes for healthcare providers.
  • Medline Canada is now a $520M+ company and the second-largest distributer of healthcare supplies in Canada. Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Medline Canada’s 420 employees, including over 100 sales and clinical field representatives, and 8 distribution centres, work with passion, purpose, and pace to deliver quality products to the entire continuum of care.
  • Medline Canada is focused on growing in the Quebec market, acquiring Montreal-based Dufort and Lavigne in 2018, and now Médi-Sélect in 2020, to be the dominant leader in the Quebec healthcare market.

On behalf of the more than 24,000 Medline employees worldwide, we would like to thank you in advance for your continued business and support. It is our customers who make us successful – we couldn’t do this without you.

In reference, an article in Le Devoir:

CHINA AND THE UNITED STATES CONCLUDE A TRUCE
Shanghai — Donald Trump and Xi Jinping agreed on Saturday to a truce in the trade war that threatens economies of their countries, but analysts point out that this pause does not yet resolve the fundamental problems of their economic rivalry. Under the agreement reached on Saturday at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, the White House announced that it would postpone by 90 days a tariff increase on Chinese imports. At the same time, China has committed to increasing U.S. imports. The increase in tariffs between China and the United States since the spring has already weighed on global growth. The IMF estimates that, in the short term, global GDP could be reduced by 0.75% if trade tensions were to increase further.
